Geographical Map of The World, with the tracks of the most Celebrated Navigators, for the elucidation of Lavoisne's Geneological, Historical, Chronological, and Geographical Atlas. The World in two hemispheres, as it was understood at the start of the 19th century. Lavoisne was an American cartographer who worked with Gros, and also J. Atlas was first published in London in 1807, without any maps.

35 maps were added for an 1814 edition. This map here is taken from an 1821 edition, published in America. The imprint bottom right reads Third Philadelphia Edition, 1821 - Printed on Gilpin's Machine Paper, by TH Palmer, for M Carey & Son.

A fascinating map with lots of detail, some in the text below which includes "Dimensions of the Earth" and Chronological Account of the Most Celebrated Modern Navigators. The map itself plots many of the routes of these navigators.

Australia is beginning to take on its accurate shape by this tiem, but the Northern part of America and the Polar regions were still unexplored. The pair complement each other perfectly. Size: the map measures 55cms x 43.5cms. Condition: A little ragged round the edges, and creased but generally in a good condition.

Slightly grubby mark top right. I have other antique maps, books, prints etc. This item is in the category "Antiques\Maps, Atlases & Globes\World Maps". The seller is "mitchmap50" and is located in this country: GB.

This item can be shipped to all countries in Europe, all countries in continental Asia, United States, Canada, Australia.
